There is Gil exhaust and there is Gil exhaust. the 500 efi engine runs a Gil setup that runs out of breath about 600 hp tops. It's an upgrade over center dump 330 mercs, but...And then there's dry to the tip Gils that can't possibly revert even with a drag strip cam.

i have no experience with a vortech supercharger but i am pretty sure your combination will make 800 hp by accident.edit in.imo bumping the c/r up to app 9to 1 would help with low rpm power before the boost comes in the mix.

Sorry for the quick derail but my 500efi's have the y pipe and dumps out right before that. Is that considered to be center dump?

I'm trying to learn how i can push my 500efi's to around 575 and do as little modifications as I can lol. Should have done it with the rebuilds 30 hours ago but I broke to much and the bill got to big. Everything up top is new, lifters springs and so on so would like to save and use what I can.

actually I need to correct myself. I was thinking of the 496 Merc Gil exhaust. But since this thread started with the R word, I think it would help if OP is a little more specific with which Gil setup he will be running.
