Yes you will need some special tools to achieve the installation of the cable properly and then fine adjustments from there on your part.

It would be wise to take a good look at u joint bellows while you are back there and have the drive off. You can very easily check it for hardness and cracks and holes from the inside by expanding it and then with your fingers pressing outward. Also check for gear oil (not grease) in the bellows area. Also check gimbal bearing and its rotation along with engine alignment and of course there is more to cover if needed to be.

If GB is good, grease it with the proper grease and rotate with your fingers then hit with grease again every 1/4 of a turn. This spreads the grease evenly thru out the entire bearing.
