Yes I do have the uncorrected, but not here in the phone. That still wouldn't explain the poweband though. You're familiar with the cam and the other components are pretty standard.

Not sure what's going on there. That's only a couple hundred rpm between peak torque and peak hp. Might be something with the load valve on the dyno, or the data aquisition, could be engine related. I'd definitely try to figure out before burning a bunch more fuel though.

Well if it's engine related here's the other engine with a different intake and carb. Still showing peak hp and tq with the same spread, but obviously different numbers.

HaxbySpeed 03-09-2016 11:48 PM

Most likely dyno related then. There's definitely something weird goin on.

Ok. So I've got something else that needs to be looked into before I deal with carbs. Always something.

Brian post the video of the dyno pull so Haxby can have a listen. Engine sounded great and it could be me but the way the dyno loaded it sounded funky.

I sent the video of a pull on the engine werre talking about to one of the builders on the site who talks to Alex. I believe they'll talk about it

I think you got it. This is just my opinion, but it sounds like the brake is out running the engine for the first 2/3rd of the pull. By the time the engine catches up the pull is almost over. This skews the peaks because of the way it's being loaded. One reason is the pull is very fast, I would ask him to slow it down to 300rpm/sec. Second reason is the motor might be a little lazy from being so rich, which will slow the acceleration as well.

Not that's its an excuse to be too sloppy with the tuning, but all these pulls were just to get a ballpark of where the power was going with the different combos. I be looking into all this further and discussing all this with him including the sweep rate.

Definitely something going on and I agree...sounds like dyno error. It's pretty tough to build an engine with those specs and get the tq and hp that close together, even if you wanted to. When you take time and spend money to gather info and that info is inaccurate, you're just throwing time and money away. The info is only as valuable/useful as it is accurate.
