Just to get this straight now. There are TWO bearings in the top of the transom assembly. A large one like at the bottom of the gimble ring which is the one I believe you got out. Then there is the small one way up in there that rides on the very top end of the swivel pin. Isn't your swivel pin really small on the very top end? Your new little bearing should fit on the very top end of your old pins.
You remove the little bearing and seal with a punch through the grease fitting hole in the top of the transom assembly.

Ahhhhhhhhh ok. I didn't realize there were 2 bearings up top. The diagram i was looking at didn't say that. Sounds easy enough to get out, but the way my swim platform sits, I don't think I can get straight on it with a punch. I will look and see. I guess then - what is the part number for the bearing I pressed out? Once I get that and the pin kits, I'm ready for re-assembly.

That bearing you pressed out would be #4 in the diagram 31-54043 and the seal is #3 in the diagram 26-31783. https://www.perfprotech.com/mercury-.../40?model=4340
You should have a total of 4 parts come out of the top there. 2 bearings and 2 seals. Parts 3, 4, 5, 6 in the diagram.
