will somebody please design an ignition control setup for the small cap HEI? I mean how nice would it be to be able to buy a junkyard distributor and dial in exactly the advance you want at the rpm you want?

The Daytona Sensors box will do it, as I had used the Crane HI-6M to do it. Basically, you just bypass the module and use the magnetic pic up.

MSD has an E curve distributor, and Crane had something similar I think too.

I still think the daytona box is the way to go though

Great...
THe normal GM distributor you find in any junkyard will do. They were used as-is by Merc, Cruisader and others on the engines. THey have the screens for flash already installed from the factory. Then just pickup a D1965 module and you are set.

Gotcha. Is that module marine specific?

I'm going to fool with the Merc stuff tonight. If I get no joy out of it, then I'll go the Delco route.

Thanks!!

Yes, that is a module with a basic advance curve built into it. I wonder if the automotive module has any advance in limp mode? It might just...

I've read that the cheap aftermarket modules don't. No idea about the OEM. Be interesting to get a junkyard GM module and try it.
