Default Leaking Gil Sea Strainers

I have a set of Gil "offshore strainers" that I just put new lids and o-rings from CP Performance on and they still leak. I've siliconed the o-rings onto the lids and tightened them down as tight as I'm comfortable with and they still leak. Anyone have any tricks to seal them up?

I'm having same issue. Is there a HD thumb turn clamp out there for this?
