Default Is there a special alignment tool for this coupler?

My alignment tool which I bought from Mercruiser 25 years ago will not work with the coupler in the picture. It will not go into the extended shaft. I have used this tool on Alpha's and Bravo's and never had any problems.
I have seen pics of these couplers but this is the first one I have seen in person! Pulled engine back out because I thought I was losing my mind. This is an Apha coupler in the pic...

You may need to get your alignment tool modified depending on what the original use for it was....for the Gen II Models, you need some material removed to work properly...check out below

Yes I posted that as well but took it down cause - the Mercruiser Service Bulletin came out in 1992 for how to mod your tool (pic above) . OP said he bought a new one 25 years ago and worked in all kinds of Alpha and bravo apps so I already thought he had the modified version tool - (newer version) but maybe not.

Same pic of the mod version but shows when the SB came out from Mercruiser . This is what I deleted yesterday link below .
