As a heads up on better idle, carbs that come with a PCV hook up usually idle better with a pcv, as the carbs are calibrated for it's use.

Plug the rear powervalve, and go up two sizes in primary, then retest.

This would put me at 90 primary with PV and only 87 secondary without PV. I thought the PV was worth 6 or more jet sizes. I suppose it make sense wanting to lean the WOT some and add more to mid. Just seems odd that the primary would be almost 10 bigger than secondary if taking PV into account. Since I am second guessing myself, I think I will verify my secondary opening point before I change anything.... |
Have you also considered staggering the pv's? Like say running an 8.5 in the primary, and 2.5 in the secondary?

Unhook your secondaries and see what effect it has.

Make sure you figure out the progression rate if you are gonna disconnect the secondaries

Good idea. Dial in the front half and then make the back half work with it. Without the secondaries opening, you will reach the point on the primaries that airflow going thru the primaries will become much larger than it was designed for, draw on the boosters harder than normal, and typically go real rich. So, you jet and etc for that, then hook up the secondaries (which lets more air in) and your primaries are too lean and you fuked yourself. This is why it is very good, in your circumsstance, to know when your secondaries are opening. You can tune the primaries by going tojust before the secondaries open. |
After thinking about it, it is easier to just verify the throttle position when opening of the secondaries starts to happen and not mess with taking any linkage apart.
Thank you all for the input. I will verify the AFR before the secondaries open and adjust accordingly then I will do the same in the secondaries. Then I will adjust or remove a power valve if necessary to get my WOT where it needs to be. Thank you all for your input! |
