Anyone having problems with the HEI module in these, trying to get one of my buddies engines sorted out. MSD told him that the new modules being made are junk ?? the older Motorola ones have a different chip in them ??? Thoughts

I have a MSD 8366, the replacement for the computer controlled GM HEI distributor. The module was no good in that from day 1. I replaced it with a "Genuine GM " module and have had no problems since. Ive heard of many others having the same problem. Also you are supposed to put thermoconductive paste between the module and the aluminum base of the distributor. It conducts heat better that dielectric grease.
