Hey everyone, I just bought a 1994 scarab 22. The boat looks and runs great. Just had it in lake George for the long weekend with no issues. The one thing I noticed only sometimes was when I went to plane the boat out the engine would hesitate or lose power then catch right back up which prolonged the planning process. Once the boat was on plan it was perfect with no issues at all. As mentioned before this only happened here and there not every time , what could this be?

Normally I would suggest other things but since you just bought the boat, I'd first suspect a bit of water in the fuel. Dump your water separating filter into a foil pan and look for the presence of water. Also look and smell to see how fresh the fuel is in the tank. Some fresh fuel, a new filter, and a little fuel dry may clear it right up. If that doesn't work then it will be time to look at the carb.

Sounds like an accelerator pump gone bad , in the carb.
