Faster7 and SB, thanks for the info and advice. The vacuum advance and load on boat engines makes complete sense.
SB, re: your points:
#1- I just purchased the MSD HEI automotive grade distributor. I was told by others it is just cheaper to get a new one of these every season (Only $149) vs replace the marine MSD every couple years. I have around $600 tied up in the marine MSD stuff. Plus my engine bay is so much cleaner without all of that extra junk. Thoughts? Should I just go back to my original MSD set up? Any other options?
#2- Good points on load and my radiator. The guy who was telling me about vacuum advance had a 455 with a Berkeley, so Im guessing the load was much less and might have be beneficial in that application.
#3- Im a big fan of T9 Boeshield. Ill check out CRC.
#4- Fair enough. I agree, they dont last long...mine only had 29 hours on it.
