Good memory..Yes a clicking noise after shutdown. The problem was the springs closed seat pressure. The j-rk that setup the heads set the closed spring pressure very high. He never asked what cam, roller, flat tappet, what kind of rockers rollers or stamped steel, he just assumed or guested what the pressure should be. So with all the spring pressure on the seats also the missing hardened seats from the factory..which he cut out when he was installing my larger stainless valves caused the exhaust valves to sink into the head...Had them redone with new seats etc..Been great till now with 160 hrs.
I'll see if i can find that video for you

Thanks I did remember about your app back years ago, actually 5 years ago. Back then I tried to click on your video but nothing would show and still does not.

If you can find it or how many vids you have, that would be great if I could get them. I was going to use them for some classes that I teach in the winter months. Thanks for the help. John

Here is your old post back in 2011, the vid does not show as I mentioned.

Could it be dirt in your seawater pump?

So, how was the high seat pressure causing the clicking noise?

I have a crane flat tappet cam and at that time it had stamped steel rockers (stock). I also have the compcams double spring with damper 924-16 set and they have a recommended closed seat pressure of [email protected] height. All i was told from the machine shop is that the closed spring pressure was way high probably above 150#. There is a limit on spring and seat pressure depending on your setup? Maybe the spring pressure was too high for the lifters and that noise in the video was a pressure release which ended up as a clicking sound. Actually they found a few broken springs also probably due to them opening too far or binding. I was told that the springs have a closed height and pressure and an opening height and pressure and if you go over the recommended settings for the type of valve train you are running there will be issues. There was in less than 20 hours. I'm glad nothing more than the heads and the rockers were bad.

924-16 1.509 1.125 0.697 Y 112 @ 1.900 355 @ 1.200 1.175 347 732, 721 1732, 741 4700, 4770
