No I'm not sure. That was just what the seller told me. Just did some research and I believe there ssm 3 or 3a due to the x dimension requirement on the 357. I don't. know how to post photos on here.

Sounds like the old 575 merc that came with the dominator carb, solid flat tappet cam, stellings headers, and either the ssm 3 or ssm 4 drive at the time.

The 3 and 3a drives look more like a standard outdrive. The 4 and 5 is shorter, no cavitation plate. Post pics and i can prob tell you what you are looking at.

Ill try and post photos later. The old solid lifter 575hp Mercs have 300hours on them. How much maintenance will they require when running them in moderation. Valve lash adjustment every how many hours?

Is that the boat on kijiji for sale (canada)? If so, those are ssm3 drives for sure. I'm not sure about the motors, no pics and not much information in the ad. If the interior is decent, motors check out, then it's a pretty good deal to me! Says the drives were just rebuilt.

This guy says it runs 75. Blower hatches that say 700hp (but I don't think it's blown). I would have expected more from 700 hp but maybe not. Im not familiar with that hull and what it can run.

My 357 with trs and 485 hp ran 62-64
I doubt they would run 80 with 575! Even 75 is high imo
My guess would be more high 60's very low 70's
But thats just my guess could be wrong!

1989 Formula brochure says 72 mph with 575s. I've got 540's in mine with bravos and I've seen 72.
