Default Catalyst elimination for "test purposes"

So, there is a lot of talk, but I can find no one who has removed newer catalyst exhaust successfully....or even attempted. I would like to add headers to the 6.2l mercruiser engines simply to remove weight from the engines. I would say that this is for "testing purposes".....wink wink. I realize that there is going to be minimal power increase, but could remove about 75lb per manifold. This X 4 is a lot.
Anyone know of this being done without causing problems? I see some headers with O2 sensor bungs, but you need two for cat engines.
