Ghetto flow benches can be used. Shop vac with a vacuum port and gauge. Just gotta guess the number but at least you can see if your going the right direction. Lol.

If its a ghetto bench some clear hose and a quart of water. Measured in H2o LOL

not yet, I sent cams I figure when cam time comes (soon) we will talk and see, going to run numbers by a handful of MARINE guys, a buddy is talking to Teague also gonna try to get his input too..

I thought you were going to stick to one guy, your head guy and leave it up to his decisions?

Sounds like another crap shoot.

Pipemax program suggests, for a 540 like Tim's, a header diameter, of 2 1/8, to 2 3/8 , with a 30-33" long primary, and an 18" long collector.

So, pretty much a big dyno header. Not a 1 7/8 CMI E TOP, more like a CMI big tube. Definitely not a stainless marine/GIL style manifold, with short runners, and a 3.5" tube that has water mixing in. Not if you're looking to make some power that is. That above claim from speedtalk, making 715hp-730hp, I'll bet you pull off the dyno headers, stick tims manifolds on it, you'll knock 50+hp and a bunch of torque right out of it.

I'm still standing by my statement, that out of anything on that engine, the exhaust is the single biggest thing holding it back, from making 700+ hp. You could port the heads all day, put in a 750 lift solid, but unless you step up in the exhaust department, I think you're pullin your weiner.

You are spot in with the exhaust. I was running Gil's with long dry tails and with Tinkerers 650 hp engines, all I managed out of my Formula was maybe 81 MPH. 81 isn't bad out of my boat but 81 with 1300 hp isn't that great either. I know for for a fact the limiting issue was the exhaust. Tinkerer was gettting around 83 out of the same engines with a heavy Scarab III. Only difference was he was running lightning exhaust, better than Gils, but still a far cry from a true header. I've got two sets of Eickerts waiting to go on this spring. I'm not going to make any other changes and I'm willing to bet I pick up 5 mph with that change alone.

I was going to ask the same thing.

Not at all, he always consults 3-4 cam people or more and processes what he thinks is the best way to go, I am not sure of many who don't, so to think they don't get input also is just stupid, the final say is my buddy tht did heads and intakes... period. So not a crapshute.

As far as exhaust goes... absolutely I realize there probably is power on the table there, but I can't afford that also this winter and will be later, I can only do so much at once and pay cash.

If I get the money and time to dyno again as planned there will be a comparison my exhaust. Bs dyno headers...

The funny part is you guys don't know anything about the person doing my stuff, but you just say he sucks.... he's been very successful... yet because you don't like me... or how it's being done..."he sucks"

Well F you guys lol

I would imagine there are many 540 builds making under 700 hp especially dressed with the exhaust they are running. valako and I were just talking about that the other day.
