I went with the VR1 20w50................seems to be the concensus here............thnx SB, just ordered through Amazon.

FWIW, when my 400 hour, 496 MAG decided to pretzle a rod the builder stated that other than the now shorter rod, the inside of the engine looked like new. He said bearings were pristine. Mobil 1 15W50. Breaking rebuilt engine in on VR1 20W50. Builder recommends Gibbs 15W50 Driven but said he can't see a reason not to continue with Mobil 1.
