Keeping an opened mind with this project due to the GM truck in the video uses basically the same HVS distributor, coil design and Crank/CAM Shaft Sensor systems which also doesn't require setting the timing rather phasing in the distributor which should be (should of been?) controlled by the GM truck ECM like the 555... It will definitely be interesting to know for sure how it all works out for you. Please let us know and good luck to you.:)

Did you disturb (Move) the original distributor assembly at all during the installation process??? If you did then you'll need to confirm it's back in the correct place before heading out on the water or the engine may perform badly due to just that issue alone vs the added wiring changes done.

I'm happy to be a pioneer of this intervention in the water!
the distributor, has been dismantled and reassembled, of course in the correct position (reference in the distributor line and number 1 piston at TDC).

when you first turn the strobe has scored 8 ° @ 1000 rpm so I would say ok

I will keep you updated!

Good luck and welcome to OSO.

Just to ensure you reinstalled the distributor correctly, see if you can open the PDF link and use the general info as an reference guide for proper installation... http://forums.iboats.com/filedata/fetch?id=7001823

Also see page 2 of 3 for just in case added guidance from Mercruiser. http://www.marinemechanic.com/merc/d...fi-nostart.PDF

Exactly, @ idle, warm 540 rpm

For security, and ceck the ignition phase, initially i look the angle @1000 rpm, when the angle is 8° @ 1000 RPM, I'M SURE IT'S OK.
My project and my cams, at 10° @1000 have a better performance, with a stock MPI system unfortunately i'm obligated @ 8 °.
thanks for the link!

hello to all guys! excuse the absence but the work has overwhelmed me!

ok, I tried the rib with the MSD system, I have not the data to make comparison with the original ignition system, I only noticed a lighter color of sparks after the test, the engine seems to be no problem, I have reached the speed maximum of 59.9 kts but I propeller a bit long, and I'll have to to fix.

before the end of December I will give you definitely more data.
