No one wanted to run unleaded even in cars designated for "Unleaded Fuel Only".
Or order the filler neck for a export model. Canada went unleaded later.

What about valve seals can you leave them out to help with the oiling we keep having valve guide failures

With bronze guides .0013 intake .0018 exhaust. With iron heads .0020 you also need to have a nice wide valve job so the heat from the valve is transferred to the head and into the coolant system. If it's moderate performance I run all valve seals. If it's a really healthy motor I don't run them on the exhaust.

I also run two stroke oil 100:1 mix this really helps keep things a little more lubricated. You can see a big difference when you pull the motor apart.

Interesting...I used to run Amsoil 100:1 in my two stroke bikes back in the day but never thought to run it in anything else. Maybe I'll try it in my new engines what brand are you using?

What kind of valve guide clearance are you running? What cylinder head?

Usually Pennzoil. Cause it's cheap. If I can't get my hands on two stroke oil. I'll dump transmission fluid in instead at 100:1 mix.
