Yes, you are correct, you will need the tranny, bellhousing. You will also have to change the flywheel and starter because the starter will need to be moved from the block to the bellhousing. Also you will need to change the yoke on the drive from a female spline to a male spline. You will also have to move the motor forward about 3" to accomodate the longer Borg tranny/bellhousing.

The best way to do this is to buy the stuff from someone who has removed a TRS set up.

Thx Biggus,

The boat i bought has a set of both , the trs drives are now set up for the Velvets , with 540's, i'm am not getting the 540's but i want to put the velvetdrive with the 454's 440 h.p. motors i'm getting with the boat... will the 540 bellhousing bolt up to the 454? and will the 454 mount to the 540 motor mounts ?

xcav8; My question is, "Why would you want to do that?" The MercTransII can be beefed and upgraded for lots less money and hassel by a real knowledgeable A.T. shop and handle more H.P. than the TRS drive will handle. Everything will stay the same in the boat and you won't add any extra weight. Been there/done that. --- Jer

OK, you were writing at the same time I was so forget my last post. The bolt holes to mount everything are basically the same from 540 to 454. --- Jer
