Default another cam thread

i am building a 454 for a 1969 chevelle,it currently has the origional 325 hp 396 and it is going to be removed and put away as a complete engine except for the starter&alternator.i was searching for parts for the short block and found from an oso member who i won,t mention his name but i am hoping he will chime in on the thread.this member had a gen 5 or 6,i can,t remember for sure for sale so i contacted him,the guy who owns the car did not want to go with a electric fuel pump so the late model block was not going to work,he mentioned that he had a mark 4 454 4 bolt short block that he built about 6 years ago and it sat in a unheated shed for 6 years and had some rust.he took it apart and texted me a bunch of pictures and the rust did not look to bad so myself and the car owner went on a 6 hour road trip.upon inspection of the parts i decided that i could clean it up and reassemble it so we struck up a deal and loaded everything up and i brought it to my shop,i sprayed everything down with my favorite oil[MARVEL MYSTERY OIL]and shoved it in the corner.a few days later i got after it with more marvel and a scotch brite pad and it was working good,to the point that one would never know it had rust.today i ordered a set of afr 265 ovals for it and started thinking about a cam.i am going to go with a hyd roller and have one in mind.i would like to hear from the usual suspects on oso about what they would pick for a cam and see who comes closest to what i am thinking about using.who ever comes the closest to the one i have in mind is going to win a prize.let,s have some fun with this fellas.

236/242 .600" lift or so, and 110LSA. It will do all things well but not one thing great....other than smoking the hides aslong as he wants when he dumps the clutch.

230/236 110 will be fine too. I would not go lower than this though...just because.

I'm assuming good exhaust system.

Psst: The way I drive, I'd be going 240 or so at .050" and prob 109 LSA.

Im a muscle car purest and If the starter and alt are date code correct for the 396 then leave them on the engine and buy new, as far as cam, I would make it 3/4 race the 7/8's race lobe profile is all wrong

We just put a 238 / 242 @.050 on a 109 LSA with just under .600 lift in my 440.
Good flowing cast iron ported heads.

Flat tappet tight lash mechanical with EDM lifters.

If he wants it to sound killer at the ice cream shop, tighten up the LSA.
