Default K/E Spring Oilers

Has anyone used the K/E spring oiler set-up and if so what is your opinion of it? The price isn't terrible and seeing that I'm pulling the engines this spring I'm thinking about adding these.

Icdeppl has them . I think he's happy with them. Maybe he will chime in. I know he had some clearance issues with them fitting with the stainless marine manifolds, I wanna say. They seem like a nice piece though. I don't see a downside to keepin the springs running cool. I think I'm gonna add them too next time the engines come out.

dan used them on his engines, maybe he will chime in,imo spring oilers are a good thing for a marine endurance engine.

Thanks guys. I'm going to get the at least one of the headers mounted so I can check the clearance between it and the valve cover. I'm sure I'll be ok because the Eickerts have a narrower profile than a manifold that has to to have a riser bolted to it.

Has anyone checked how hot their springs got running hard in a marine hydraulic roller application? After a several mile run at close to 6000 rpms I could hold my finger on mine without it being uncomfortable.

Thats a good point. I'd like to think, some of the factors, could be spring style, valve lift, spring psi, oil temperature, lifter bore clearance, etc. I'd imagine a guy running oil temps of 250* at 6000, wouldn't be able to touch his springs after a hard run, if being showered with oil that is that hot. With or without spring oilers.

I suppose in circle track engines, where they are running big rpm, hotter engine temps, the spring oilers may be more beneficial.

I guess if I had to choose, I'd rather keep my oil temps in check, and no spring oilers, vs higher oil temps, and spring oilers.

Would it be safe to assume, that if you are running 250* oil temperature on your gauge, your springs, are probably at 250*, as a minimum? According to pac, thats about 40lbs of open pressure lost, due to the temperature, when compared to what the spring is tested/rated at. By 300 degrees, you're down nearly 60lbs of open pressure.

I'd think keeping those springs under 200 degrees, would be the goal?

I'm not sure. It really all depends on time, which seems to be a common excuse. I'm really not in a super hurry to get the boat in the water this year, so I may. It would be nice to know the actual power and power band. I'm sure with the new exhaust I'll be at a real 650 in the boat, but what I don't know is where that power is being made. I know Getrdunn is going to be having his dyno'd so maybe if I do it, I'll have it done when he does his.
