Many pans have 2 half inch drain plugs. You can utilize one of those ports which I've done otherwise you can drill and tap drain plug for sensor. You can get them all the way down to 1/8" pipe.

Only advantage to these is their built with male AN so no need for adapters. I really like the earls that OP posted. Then again I just sold two perma cools for 55.00 shipped that work perfectly fine just don't have the bling. |

You're running Mercury oil temp gauges? I assume they make a kit that plugs and plays with the oil filter head? I haven't seen one.
