I used this cam in a very mild 540 I built about 12 years ago. It was destined for a very heavy Sea Ray Sundeck with a Bravo 3 drive. So, our goal was a ton of low end torque and a good idle since it was running Stainless Marine exhaust with Captains Call. Running stock rectangle port heads and RPM Airgap intake. It made peak torque of 551 at 3800 rpm and 490 HP at 5200 RPM on my propshaft dyno. It's still running strong.

looking for input from anyone who has tried the comp cams xtrem marine xm284hr 112 lobe separation 110 center line, 230int / 290 ex duration @.50. looking in this area for lift .547 but want to stay away from big duration. pleasure/ performance boat. p.s. fairly long no wake zone to get to the big water if that matters.

To be honest I'm going to build or find a header, and run muffs. all the after markets look the same as the turds I just pulled off. I want to be able to get to the valve train. we will see.

If you use the extreme series valve covers, you can get them off without pulling the exhaust...

I think that this same article was posted in the Do it Yerself section some time ago, but is a surprising read on intakes.

The Eddie Marine manifolds with the HP riser are $1800

I meant to add, I'm just curious as to why there is such a big pricing difference with the other identical exhaust manifolds???...they are about $1000 more than the Eddie Marine exhaust manifolds.

They're cheaper.. LOL....
I'm sure the Stainless Marine's flow better..
The Eddie Marines have separate runners almost all the way to the riser, but the ports aren't all that big..
I didn't have a chance to compare different exhausts on the Dyno,
I DID make 630hp N/A & 1020 hp blown with no apparent tuning issues due to the exhaust.
