Hard to compare small block stuff with big block stuff. Under $200 you can use the GM Performance lifters and run your SBC like a buzz saw. Much lower valve/keeper weight, much lower spring weight, and pretty straight valvetrain.

I forgot to mention the other week cause we where without power and internet for 6 days (brutal massive storm), but just before then I found a company that makes limiters for hyd lifters.

Harley uses, on many engines, the SBC lifter. So, leave it to S&S cycle to make it. These should fit in the BBC GM HR lifter too.

Great find! Sure looks like a simple way to do it.

So far, mine are doing great. I have used them in the last 4 engines that I built, but probably less than 200 hrs combined on all 4 engines. The last two were 548's that we dyno'd to 6300rpm with no issues. They had pretty big cams and pretty stiff springs.

FWIW, I ran my stock GM lifters with Eddie Young’s blessing, but they measure out at the exact height of these short travel lifters so you can switch them out without reinventing the valve train.
