Mercury High Performance Gear Lube is part number 92-858064K01 and is different than the ones you have shown here. It's a straight SAE 90 weight. That's what you should be using.
Edit: The SAE 90 product is what I used to use. I see now that Mercury has a Extreme Performance Racing lube that is 85w90; I assume that's what you're showing here. I now don't use either of those. I use Torco RTF. |

Unless they changed the name, the Quicksilver good stuff was labeled High Performance Gear Lube. And typically, my local Walmart carries it and has the best price around $11-$12. I also want to say the color is different between the regular QS gear lube and high performance.

I was just discussing this with the guy who services my drives. He was a staunch advocate of Torco RTF in #6 drives and recommended I switch to it last year because he felt it was better than the HP gear lube (SAE90). I had very good results with it albeit it is expensive and requires changing at a more frequent interval than the Merc. stuff. He told me this morning that Merc. reformulated their gear lube to the one mentioned above and now he recommends I switch to it over the Torco as it was targeted specifically for Bravo drives. FWIW.

I thought the straight 90w was the latest and greatest. It's what I've been using.

There is a difference between the High Performance Quicksilver and Extreme Performance Quicksilver, consider it medium duty and heavy duty. In the past, the item #s were just one letter different from comparable oil\lube when comparing Quicksilver and Merc Race. Now Merc Race uses totally different item #s for the comparable Quicksilver/Merc Race throwing a wrench into everyones trained way of thinking.

I would go with the Quicksilver Extreme Performance for the XZ, If I had the XZ drive I would want what is the best from Merc. Remember, currently the High Performance is the "Standard" lube, not for XRs, 6s, etc
