I'm wanting to paint my intakes red and my EFI red. What I'm worried about is overtime the paint discoloring and turning a chalky white. It's the only color I'm going to have on the motors since the heads are aluminum and the valve covers are aluminum. My guy that's putting it together does not want color he wants me to go back black. Do you think the color will look like crap after two years on the intake and EFI?

Paint everything chalky white with rust trim.

I would think the prep and paint used would dictate the overall outcome of the project. If the valve covers are finned I'd toss some red in the grooves to tie everything together.

I've always been a paint whore. Prep is the key. When done right it looks same as new years later. Use a high heat engine rated paint.

I have been using PPG concept on engines for about twenty years .. usually use single stage , but sometimes basecoat and clear.. Works and looks great.

Use a high quality automotive paint with proper prep and they will be fine.
