Bump. Im outta ideas. Could it be a pressure thing? I put the same filter adapter with the bypass plugged back on that i took off. Can you put that on backwards? Im pretty sure my oil lines are on correct as i took pictures before the engine rebuild. Hottest the oil has ever gotten was 220 after a run. Psi at start up is 60ish. Warm idle 40 ish. Oil line comes off the fitting at the adpater and goes to cooler. Other line on the adapter goes/comes from the filter. Temp reading is at the filter.
Ive only used the boat twice since the rebuild. First time no issues what so ever. Second time is when it started leaking. It now leaks the moment you start it up. I dont think it ran for 30 seconds before i noticed it leaking like a sive and shut it down. It leaks even sitting like its leaking the oil thats in the plate after being shut down, not near as bad as when its running but if i wipe it clean and come back 5 minutes later theres oil there.
I currently have it apart and not sure what to do now? Is it time for a new adapter plate? I feel like im throwing money at it and nothing is working.
Suppossed to leave for loto next week but thinking i may have to cancel that if i dont figure something out

The adapter may have a crack that only opens up or visible when torqued down.
The bolt that holds the adaptor on has an oring in the seat. Did you check and replace that? It only takes an invisible tear to make life miserable.

I checked the plate over real good and couldnt see anything. The oring in the recessed area of the plate looked fine to me. Initally there was nothing else there, just that 1 oring. When i ordered the new seal i put it between the fitting and the plate and put it back together and it leaked like a sive while running. Tore it all back apart and noticed the new seal was phucked up and does have a slight tear in a timy part. The seal i bought is to big to fit in the recessed area of the plate.
Should i have 2 seals? Maybe i overtightened and ruined the first seal? Im grasping at straws now.
The diagram on page 1 only shows the seal i bought so i figured it should only have the 1 oring in the plate itself? The leak seemed the same regardless of what i did.
Thanks for your response.

Are you sure a Mark IV ? I thought those fittings where on Gen V/VI's if I'm understanding you correctly.
See pic below. You are talking about #7 (part# 22-818401 ) right ?

I would try some of the dye that you put into the oil and check it with a UV light as it's all pretty cheap from any decent auto parts store. I thought my block adaptor was leaking and it was coming from a fitting on top and following the hose down. At least you can find the exact exit point.
