I don't look at it as extra maintenance. If nothing is wearing out it will be just an inspection. If the lash is out of whack something is going wrong. Never see that in advance with hydraulic. But everyone has there own preferences.

I've been running Morels on 5 engines at this point. I've never had an issue with any of them making noise. The lifters in my current engines are Isky's which are Morel, they are 10+ years old with maybe 150 hours on them. There are no issues with noise or anything else for that matter. I've ran 15-40 Rotella, Amsoil, and VR-1 50 through them. Never had an issue with any of the oils listed.

SB- have you run the Schaffer oil? I was going to run Amsoil 15-40 marine oil this year, but I may try the stuff you posted. I'm going to look up the Amsoil and see what I can get a better deal on.

I think the noise issue is more recent. Looking through forums and seeing when the noise complaints became more common, seems the older lifters may be ok.

No. Was never available in area and thus to much too ship....that is, until now.

Some history on Schaffer, if it wasn't for them Budweiser might not have ever happened. :)
