Ayuh,.... The only Hei distributors I've ever seen rated for marine motors is those by DUI,....

Who the 'ell is HP,..??

Call them, 'n ask how they think it oughta be done,....

What vintage Alpha,..??
Some of the shift switches are normally open, later ones are normally closed,....

Good question, as the shift interupt on the TBIV interrupts the signal from the pick up.

I'm assuming you are using coil in cap HEI ? There is a merc chart that shows which wire with the external coil (voyager) HEI.

I just hooked up mine and what I found is to attach the interrupt wire to the tach wire on the distributor.

I just run the HP HEI from summit, remove the vac advance w/block off kit, use the correct wire connectors, but never used on a alpha..they work great and you can add a digital rev limiter from petronix with a simple dial for the RPM, been using them for years, at least they do not corrode like MSD

I use an aftermarket electronic interrupt on my boat. It’s the only way I could get it to work with my HEI distributor. Before I installed this, I had to drive with the Interrupt switch disconnected.
