The new hose kits I just installed are not magnetic, those buggers could be anywhere.

Pull the engine, you will have a much easier time working on it and also able to check the entire set-up over. It sucks, its not what you planned but it could be a whole hell of a lot worse.

Just pull them. I am in the middle of it right now. One of the timing chain rollers came apart. VERY lucky I caught before I woke up the new Blowers!

Have you seen this happen ? I would think they would lock up the pump and shear the oil pump drive-shaft ...I can't see how they would go through the pump ...

Yes sir.. Melling HV77 Pump. Needle bearing went right up through the screen, and between the rotors in the pump.

I talked to Eddie. He validated the needle bearing issue and that he's seen them go through the oil pump screens when they somehow align just right when floating through the oil. I actually found 2 more needle bearings under the engine. I guess they fell down when I was pulled off the valve cover. Now just needle to locate the one straggler!. Will be pulling off the heads and sending them in to get re-worked and get the springs, rockers, and retainers. Looking though the Service Manual, it seems pretty straight forward. Hopefully, its not down to too long and salvage some of the summer.
