They're TRW L2377F 060 pistons (forged).

I have not been into the crank case yet, but I'm hearing the oil looked clean. It may be a broken piston making the noise.

Interesting note... the block is a 68-69 427. This block is capable of being safely bored .100 over, not that we're looking to do that. It may actually be worth something for the Corvette restoration crowd.

Regarding the meltdown... he's noticed a loss in fuel pressure at WOT, and he just recently did a poker run. The 250 blower uses a single carb adapter, and the front four pistons all show some damage. I'm thinking the engine went lean with the low fuel pressure cooked the front half due to the tendancy to run lean on the front with the single carb adapter.

I'm going to pull the crank this week sometime to look at the bearings.

See if you can find the date code and if the r. front pad code is readable. 454 blocks can be had for 200 bucks these days needing work. But this one may be really special to somebody.
