Default Msd 6m issue?

Launched boat last weekend and noticed a burning smell above 3500 rpms. Turned out to be Msd blaster coil and it torched up my coil wire end. Boat sat for 4 days and when I went to crank it over with new coil and wire installed it just clicked. Batteries were drained both down to 50%. Batteries were off all week and nothing was running. Is it possible there's an issue with 6m box because it's wired directly to batteries? The boat sat for over a month before this problem and would fire right up so I don't think there's a draw anywhere. Wondering is Msd box is cause of drain?
