Default 350 mag's/Bravo 1's with 1.65 ratio, need help?

I posted this under the Donzi page and figured i would get a better response here. I am looking at a 2006 Donzi 28ZX and cannot find the exact motor/drive combination. The owner says the motors are 350mags, however EFI the covers are not the original, so i cant tell from looking at them. I do not have the serial numbers as the boat is hours away and want to verify before i get there.

My question, did mercruiser combine the 350 mags with the 1.65 Bravo drives in 2006? The boat i know has 1.65 drives on it from the tag on the Bravo label on the drive. Everything i have seen says, 6.2's with the 1.65 ratio, 350mags had the 1.5 ratio. Am i to assume that instead of 350mags, that the boat may have the 6.2's in it. Can anyone confirm?

Thx

I would think 6.2 would also be 1.5 ratio. Do you know the prop pitch? A 1.65 would probly want 27's. I had a 1.62 alpha in a 25 crownline with a stock 350 and it spun a 23 mirage easy. But 2 inch diff in pitch will make up for the 10% diff in ratio. Shouldn't be a deal-breaker in itself.

Props will likely be the tell tale sign to confirm O/D ratio.

I know that they are different manufacturers but formula put 1.65 drives behind all the small block 292's

That is what sucks about the covers. I looked at one that had 5.0s with 6.2 covers

I unknowingly had a 1.65 drive until I pulled the drive and the mechanic that switched out the gears inscribed the change on the drive horn. In my experience the change is worth about 2" of pitch. I run a 25" where others with the same setup run 23" props.
