Trailer wheels breaking ???
#11
What about going with a one piece wheel??
I had Weld wheels on my last PSD Ford 4x4 and broke one of them. I had the wheel warrantied and they said they had alot of these wheels breaking at the weld because of the weight of the diesel engine. They recommended going with a one piece wheel to solve the problem. Maybe the weight of the boat and trailer is to much for the wheels.

BF- I guess if you did not have bad luck you would have no luck at all.
Last Saturday took my trailer to trailer place in Austin. I had gotten tired of trying to deal with the orginall maker. The Trailer place owner happened to be there & he was looking at my complaints. He started looking at my wheels & had the service guy pull out his tape measure. He put from the front tire to the back. On Port side all 3 tires were towed in little bit, he said that was way they were to be. They then went around to starboard side & tires were either toe out or straight. Basicily all tires are to be lined up, with a little tow in.

Just an observation? When the rig is fully loaded and hooked to the tow vehicle check the idlers between the springs. Do they have even spacing to the frame? Or are they bottomed out on the frame?
Even in a twin axle the front spring aft eye is even with the aft spring's forward eye, etc. with triples. Does that make sence?
So if when the trailer is unloaded and the 3rd axle is off the ground..........it sounds like the tounge height is too low. This would cause EXTREEMMME pressure on the front axle and wheels when loaded.

Thanks Guys !
Actually my tongue height is higher at the tongue than the rear. My truck is a Supercrew 4x4 that is quite high and I do not use a dropped hitch on it......that way I can drain the bilge better if needed. So I would guess this is UN-loading the front wheels..... I just have to assume this is metal fatique and let it go. As far as solid one piece wheels, that would be great but they cost a lot more and this trailer is not normally used much and then only for short trips. I will have to see what happens with a complete new set and try to take wider turns!!
