Not an uncommon issue and you can pretty it up but you won't likely see any difference in flow. Been down that road also and was able to flow before and after and near zero difference. I completely get what your saying though. How far up is the stud bolt? If not far possibly get longer studs (threaded part) and do a little torque and grind? Lol.

Good to know! If they don’t help out then I’m not putting time in to it. I’m polishing the chambers largely to help with detonation but at the end of the day these heads are very limited for marine use. I’m strongly considering ditching the Victor Jr intake for an air gap. I don’t think these heads can really take advantage of the single plane.

Finally got the short block back. Calcs out to 10.17:1, 525EFI cam, oval port Performer heads with blended bowls, ported air gap intake, and QF850m carb. Should be a good heart for a ski boat.

I’m not done blending the chambers and cleaning up the ports, yet but close. I do run 91 octane gas, but still have the option of running the .059 mls gasket to drop the cr down to 9.7:1. If this seems like a prudent move lemme know

Very wise intake choice, dynoed a 502 a few months ago w edelbrock 290 gm motorsports heads, afrs and torque were god awful w a vic jr, switched to a pos edelbrock performer and picked up 30/40 ft lbs tq just about everywhere plus a little hp. Switched THAT to gms version of a performer rpm and picked up MORE tq and hp everywhere and afrs were much closet. If your running a std firing cam, #3 is the leanest cylinder w your intake if you start reading plugs fwiw from what we saw, Smitty
