Rookie, I do Not have a 4.370 bore size. Is there a reason you are recommending these part #'s for my application?
Is this board dead or what? Its like a ghost town around here. 17046 is just a quality low cost head gasket for a marine build. I have run the same ones 10yrs on some ~600HP 454's with no issues, I may have reused them once... lol And the 1037 is the exact same head gasket just part numbered for automobiles. Gaskets with the 17 are marine. I am putting 17042's (standard HP) in my 420 builds right now. $31ea from summit, free shipping on $100 orders. And going to go with the 17046's (High Performance) for my 575HP builds. |

Like rookie said the 4.370 is a common head gasket size and safe with a bore up to .060 in most cases. Just confirm your heads are stock and or at least the fire ring doesn't protrude out into the chamber. Just match it up to the head prior to installing. That's good info that rookie gave you and have used and reused same ones when in a crunch during overnight overhaul (gotta get on the water next day type thing). What can I say it happens. Head gaskets can get ridiculously expensive... I can't personally confirm same for salt water. |
Block is zero decked, correct? I think .039 is a little tight on quench. Personally, I'd go with next step up if it were me..

I also recommend spraying the Felpro's with Permatex Copper Spray-A-Gasket . Over the years I found that it really cuts down on seeping between the block and head that leaves those ugly rust stains down the side of the block.
