^^^^^^^^^^^^ I know and another reason why I posted even thou some might have a 96 and on mefi 1 ECM -- I have seen that changed out for whatever reason by whomever to the exact MEFI 1 ECM that pertains to this service bulletin I posted.... . Not uncommon

2000, MEFI3 502 here, When I ran with 92-93 the transom full of soot after the weekend. Filled with 87 and transom stays clean. Been running 87 ever since.

I agree. I run 87 in mine too. Never ran anything else and no reason to.
He is kind of stuck and will just have to run the lowest octane he can get.
