Based on info I got from Jeff at Ateco and articfriends, I quit concentrating on rpm and starting concentrating on kpa/map by using scannerpro and the AFR gauge .
|
I hope to get some numbers today.
It stopped raining and had T-ball games yesterday with the grand kids, that was fun as always |
Did a run out, stopped a while and run back. The RPM stays close to the one on the helm until about 4K, then according to the computer read out it stops, and the helm keeps climbing until around 5100 or so. Just got the files and still don't know how to go through the stuff, but unable to find the files other then by opening scanner Pro. Thought I would upload for folks that are use to seeing things and could provide some advise, but no go. Don't understand why I can see them to load but not as actual file.
I'm using an administrator account, but only difference is I just change it to admin to see if I could find the file |
Managed to get the files to my desktop, but unable to upload XDL files

Here is results from the runs, RPM in yellow is on plane and BPW at 4100 was 5.71

What cylinder heads? Timing is conservative by a few degree's up top in my opinion. Had an engine a few weeks ago that I added 3 degree's up top and picked up 100 rpm. Even the HP500 has 34* timing. How much timing is added for the stall saver? Adding a few more degrees of initial at idle or extra in the stall saver may clean up the transom some.
I aggree with Smitty about giving it as much fuel as it needs at idle. With a B3 it might need the fuel to run and shift without stalling. |
They are Merc/GM stock cast iron heads with a bit of porting.
Don't know what a "stall saver" is, but assume its for smoother operation between pulse widths transissions If this motor was in a lighter boat it may not have this issue, as I need to be turning at least 3400 rpm to stay on plane, likes it best at 3600. Turning standard B3-26 pitch, 2.0 drive, XR upper |
It adds or pulls timing when the idle rpm changes. Such as when you shift into gear.
|
Apologies but I misquoted myself. The Scalar you're looking for is called "Idle spark stabilizer limit" and not stall saver. My bad.
|
Its all good, didn't know that term either, but understand now what it is, thanks
