Default 496 ho temp

What water temp will alarm beep? Showing approximately 170, 175 on one engine and 180 on other engine when running and up to 190 when idle after run. No alarms come on an engines run fine at all rpms. New impellers installed. Have heard that gauges could be off some and that temp is read through different sensor for engine ecm. Once again, engines run smooth at any speed. Should I have any concerns?

I don't know what the alarm is set at. But, the 496 I owned never went above 180, regardless of sea water temp, air temp, or RPM. I would be concerned at 190*.

EMCT will alarm at 212*. Confirm temp with a handheld IR temp gun if you suspect non accurate gauges. New impellers mean nothing if the brass seawater pump housing is scored. Many factors can contribute to high temps. Temps do seem on the high side.
