some lifters do have a taller body, the morels I installed fit, not to say some wont work.

In this case the previous owner before my cutomer left it out, boats had ring seal problems/oil control problems for a while,
my customer simply repeated the mistake. Simply moving the pcv or venting valve covers well would have helped in this case IF he knew it was going to be a issue. Another guy whos glad he found the problem while on dyno in one day vs chasing this in boat for next two years!!

After we disconnected the pcv and ran it we had oil bubbling from pcv hose and dipstick would push out under a load.
we extended the pcv hose, vented the valve covers, and did a leakdown. Numbers were from 18% to 30%, gave every cylinder a good long shot of brake clean sunday morning, reran it, leakdown dropped to 12% to 18% thru motor, not great but not as bad as it was. Point here, IF you dont have that oil shield in a 500efi, do NOT run factory pcv fwiw or you will have same problem. Thought id mention it so somone else doesnt have this problem.

Hey Arctic.. I run them in most BBC builds if for no other reason but keeping hot oil off the intake in an effort to reduce plenum temps.. but a must do if PCV is in the valley these are readily available at your local GM dealer and at $40 bucks retail why wouldn't one run it...

Not redirecting the post but will add this for the external PCV valves. Many look the exact same but all are specific per app. Man just had a wake boat in -- MPI - 350 hp that owner had changed the PCV valve to brand new. The engine ran like exhaust was blocked. These apps do not have internal exhaust water shutters --- aka flapper valves so I knew it could not be that. but possible something else blocking the exhaust - like a small dead animal or snake or what ever.

The customer did a full tune up and the engine produced worse running conditions after all was done. per what was his complaint. He told me he did an ignition tune up and changed oils with nothing else done. Never mentioned about the PCV valve period.

I already knew about the specific PCV valve installls and possible running issues --- but for his app it took me over 2 hours to find -- WRONG PCV installed. Seriously the engine ran like crap - also seemed like running with bad compression on more than one cyc as well. . I have seen this before but not making the engine run so very poorly like this app did. Since it was a computer controlled engine I am sure the ecm was receiving wrong inputs and producing wrong outputs for the jist of it. .

forgot the to mention the engine had a high idle because of the wrong PCV valve installed as well.. So of course my up front thinking was TPS or IAC and real temp at the coolant sensor.
