Default bolt thru steel or aluminum ?

while there is room to use a torque wrench (can't after headers go on)

on the steel engine mounts to aluminum angle on stringers, thought i heard the bolt should go thru
the aluminum and the nut should be on the steel side.?

if it matters, i can do a 1 for 1 switch now, any thoughts, wanted to install headers today
also if it matters the nuts-bolts & washers are grade 8, 7/16's torqued to 30 pounds

anything sounds / looks off, appreciate it if you would chime in, always open to advice
from the guys in the know

thanks

It does not matter as long as you are using washers on both sides. 30 ft/lb is too low for a 7/16 bolt. Torque to 65 ft/lb with a little engine oil on the threads and put the torque wrench on the steel side while holding the aluminum side stationary. This prevents the washer from spinning and digging into the aluminum, possibly affecting the torque reading or galling the aluminum. Steve

thank you,
did some research last night, all i got was a torque rating for plain and coated.

so i did a 1 for 1 change on the front mounts as follows ;
went bolt thru aluminum, removed 1 washer from nut side (length issue)
lock washer and nut on steel side. torque to 30 (that's where they were)

then torqued front and rear mount to angle nuts to 50 pounds

appreciate the advice
