Default How To Eliminate Corsa Quick & Quiet Exhaust?

My Scarab 29 with twin 383 Mercury Mags is currently in the shop having the bellows replaced. Since we'll have the drives off to do this, I was also wondering if now would be a good time to get ride of the Corsa Quick & Quiet to make the boat louder and run better. It believe the Corsa Q&Q has a Y-pipe or something that diverts some of the exhaust through the drive and the rest out the top.

1) Should I/can I remove the Y completely without removing the engines, just the drives?
2) Once the Y-pipe is blocked off, can I keep the Corsa Q&Q up top? Or will I need to purchase a straight exhaust set-up to replace the Corsa Q&Q?

Has anyone else removed the Corsa Q&Q from their boat?

Don't see removing the Y pipe without removing the motors.
Yes there is a plate to cover the Y pipe connection.
Your not going to gain any power by removing it, IMO

I removed it from my BBC app because of building enough power to have a reversion issue.

Thanks. What about for the Y-pipe block off like this? Y-Pipe Insert Caps - CP Performance If I only installed that, but left the rest of the Corsa Quick & Quiet alone, what would that do? Would it give the boat more sound? Or would I need to take out the Corsa Q&Q too, and purchase a "straight" exhaust?

Those caps will seal off the Y pipe, but remember you have a small block, its not going to sound like a big block. Will the sound be noticeably different, maybe but I doubt it. If you go straight pipes without baffles, maybe a tad louder but note without any baffles and you have to stop real quick, the motor has a better chance of ingesting water. Water gets in and its now rebuild time

It's been stated here before that the Y pipe with caps but no upper support could crack or break and water would gush in. I don't know if that's true. Everyone said that the Y pipe must go. I kept Q&Q with my 525 but I only use it at idle.
