Default Zz502

What’s the best oil and filter everyone is using in their boats ? I’m finding a lot of conflicting answers ... thanks ZZ502 with aftermarket cooler n sump

Wix filters are top notch. K&N filters are not so good. Valvoline racing 20-50 with the high zinc is great stuff. It’s far more important that you change the oil often than any particular brand as long as you buy the good stuff.

If youre running the ZZ502 cam keep an eye on reversion. I just pulled my heads after about 20 hours of use and had a fair amount of rust on the exhaust seats and I have tube headers dry to the tip.

I also have a custom built ZZ502---during the build we found water reversion--had to have custom exhaust tube headers built dry to the tips...I use Mobil 1 15-50 and change the oil about every 50 hours--Boat in warm salt water in Florida....

penzoil 20-50 here high zinc too! every 25-35 hours
using oem merc parts everywhere I can!
