Blower on the gen V 330 454?
Looking to add a bit more hp to my cruiser. I know the cast components aren’t the greatest, but I have a fresh long block in the boat and like it’s overall performance. Just looking for a little better acceleration and maybe a little top end Hp.
I was thinking blower as it won’t tremendously affect the torque curve or low rpm control.
I would be happy hitting 400-420hp if possible on low boost.
Is is there any reason I should stay away from going this route?
The boat it’s going in is a 27’ Chris craft with a Volvo 290 dp ( the other reason I don’t want to go crazy since I’ve heard mixed opinions on their strength)
thanks in advance

Some do it and have no issues however I'd never do it it especially on a marine engine. Short burst on the street might risk it with knowing the consequences. Blowers build a lot of heat and typically engine is much happier with forged blower pistons along with forged crank. There's a lot of stress on crank snout with a blower as well. Think of what your really gonna gain. What model 27 do you have. Personally I wouldn't do it.

Getrdunn answered as well as anyone else could. Putting a blower on cast internals in a boat isn’t likely to find any support here as even forged internals are problematic enough. Don’t forget that you’d most likely have to replace your tank pickup, upsize fuel lines, upgrade the oil system etc. Unless you do a blower build from scratch with all of the properly sized rigging and tid bits a lot of nagging little issues can ruin your season.

Should hold up to 400HP of Nitrous too, in case anyone wants an answer I would not say okay to also.
