Oil change set up ?
Building a new boat any good ideas on how to set up a system for easy and quick oil changes?
|
There is a kit available that has a valve you install in place of your drain plug in the oil pan. There is a 3 or 4 foot piece of hose you run out the bilge drain hole. Open the valve and all the oil drains. NO mess. I'm not sure where to get this kit, my marina did it for me when I repowered. Later, 88 Mach 1

Are you useing stock pan or aftermarket. On my stock bbc pan it uses a 12 mm by 1.75 threads and seals like a regular car pan and I found that summit had a plug called Fumoto Engineering Oil Drain Valve that has a little lever for open or closed, and also it has a nippel, used a pice of hose and two fittings from from home depot and made up the tail with a cap.If you have aftermarket they useally have a npt thread and you can make one up from home depot or or order one from any one who sells marine stuff orbertons-west marine. If you use the one from summet make shure that you part number has a N at the end of the part number or it will not have the nipple on it.

This one came on my old boat when I bought it new so I would imagine it is from Mercury. Where ever you get it from you will be glad.
