Default Four Winns Liberator/OMC 502 EFI??

Just curious...A freind just bought a 90 or 91 211 liberator. It has a OMC 502 EFI King Cobra motor. I have never heard of OMC making a 502. What kind of HP does this make? Also what kind of speed should he be looking at?

Thanks

Cripes, that thing must run right along. My best guess would be 425 horsepower, but that's just a guess. Someone here should know.

But he said it was an EFI. A repower maybe?

Maybe. Is it an actual multi-port injection (MPI) system or just throttle body EFI?

Definitely a repower, never heard of a 502 by OMC. Usually King Cobras were 454 or 460's. They did do a 5.8 King Cobra also. Don't worry, that drive can take it.

I had a 1989 211 Liberator (square style windshield) 460 King Cobra...62mph on a good day. Last year I had it I replaced the 460 Ford with a 540 Ford . Drive was fine..could bury 80 mph speedo...no gps yet. Sold the boat in spring of 2000 and the drives still going. Saw the present owner today as a matter of fact.

PS 540 dynoed 625 HP / 710 ft lbs tq

Sorry it is not EFI but is a OEM 502. But defintley factory. Says OMC 502 on the front of the carb cover and King Cobra on the sides.....Similar to the mid eightes carb enclosers on the Mercruiser 5.7l's........

Default It's True!

I owned a 93 Four Winns 221 Liberator (23 feet) with the 502 King Cobra setup (see my username). It is a GenV block with electric fuel pump, rectangle port heads and manifold, 850 cfm Holley, and a variable timing computer controlled ignition, called "starfire". Ran flawless, and never had any problems with the engine/drive combo. Crankshaft HP for this motor was 415, never found propshaft info. Boat ran 68 mph on a good day. I added GIL manifolds and dropped to a 750 cfm Holley. Didnt pick up any top end but the low and midrange was vastly improved.

Talking

I also have a 1993 502 King Cobra. My original Four Winns documentation specifies 375 prop shaft HP.
