Default Ground on trim pump

Why is there a second ground to the light blue/white and green white?

that is the ground to trigger the solenoid. it does not ground thru the base like the ones found in most cars.

sorry, just noticed you mean the one near the plug. that looks like a capacitor to absorb the arc when the solenoid opens to absorb the arc to help the solenoid live longer and reduce static electric noise. you will probably never notice if it is not there.

Thank you. I am re wiring two trim tab pumps with the newer blade fuse harness like this, and this is not on the new harness's and this is not on any diagram on any of the part sites.

Thank you again. I can move forward.

yes you need the 110 fuse. that is there to protect the main power wire to the pump, not the pump itself. if the pump locked down there is enough draw to melt the wire and start a fire so the fuse is there to blow before you get to that point. I am guessing that the diagram is assuming you have smartcraft or electric controls and they added the (what are confirmed as diodes to suppress the arc and stop electrical noise as I had guessed) as a way of stopping stray noise that would interfere with the engine electronics. if you dont have smartcraft or electric shift and throttle I cant see it being a problem not having that in there.

No , engine is Merc 540 Bulldog . , all old school by today standards. I will put a second fuse if it's called for. Have no problem doing that.
