496 HO exhaust manifold
hi, i just got my baja 27.2 , i install a remanufactured engine i got from victory marine in texas, the engine shows in te pcm 150hrs, looks and runs perfect, i just wanna know when is time tomreplace the exhaust manifolds? I hear that if simething happens in the inside of the exhaust the engine can suffer a big failure. How can inknow if i need to replace them? steel or aluminum and what type of water do you boat in? use a magnet it wont stick to the aluminum exhaust manifolds. if its in salt water i would go ahead and replace. if its in fresh your honestly probably still good with either manifold.

Flush after every use. I dont think the 496's have as big of a problem. I've been boating in FL for 10 years now and the only time I have issues is when I dont flush.

I cut a set in half after 8yrs they where far from rotted out they never got flushed they where cast iron.

i ll check tomorrow if is steel or aluminum whit a magnet. boat is in florida,, salt water! And yes i flush the engine each time i use the boat, i really try to take the best care of her, i enjoy too much ride the boat, she is a sweet old lady! |
