Figured this would be a nice option?

Alex Haxby pointed out he likes to use a dual sync with a billet cap, no need for a seperate crank sensor.. seems like another option.

But you lose some of the benefit of a crank trigger by housing it in a "distributor". With a crank trigger, you have rock steady timing, as it's getting it's signal directly off of the crank. By putting it in a "distributor" you have the slack in the timing set, slack in the cam gear to dist. gear , etc. That slack will cause less then perfect timing, especially at idle.

TOTALLY agree ^^^^^^ and to add sometimes actually more than sometimes alignment of the distributor gear is not perfect either with the cam gear. That gets missed sometimes. That will cause timing issues as well. I am fan of crank triggers - but keep water away from them as well.

Well I built a new drive stand Sunday and got the drive off without having to lift it at all.
Then I pulled the engine just before dinner.
I ordered the crank trigger and distributor plug with cam sync and oil pump drive. Should be here Wed.
Now all I have to do is mount all of that stuff.
MUCH easier to do out of the boat.

any of you guys move the alternator to the starboard side of the engine and mount a procharger where the alternator was.
I was told that the discharge can be turned to blow down. I want to mount the intercooler under the engine so the only UGLY part I have to see is the pipe coming back up to the throttle body.
where can I get a bracket to mount the alternator on the left side?

My M4 bracket did move the alternator to the left (port) side. It's under the blower. I re-clocked mine as well and mounted the intercooler on the floor... ;)

This was my plan for the alternator to make room for the external oil pump

Tinkerer 12-19-2018 06:41 PM

Where did you get the bracket to do that?

Any chance of that getting wet when a hose breaks

Tinkerer 12-19-2018 09:13 PM

I have been boating for 40 years and have yet to blow a hose.
Left drain plugs out - YES
