I'd like to have some of that stuff. What's the name of it. Like griff mentioned even though you mentioned you had sufficient water exiting I'd still maybe ck or replace your impellers on both sides since the boat is new to you. Can't believe the hose didn't start to burn up prior to the tip. That's a smell all of its own.

Most likely INTERNALLY his exhaust water hose is blistered and needs to be replaced I would look at it 4 sure and replace regardless. One can sink a boat when the exhaust hose lets go..Also who knows the engine(s) might be still running to hot ???

Sorry have to tell it straight up to make the point for the owner to look into why ?? There is a reason why someone went out and bought some sealant and goopped around the transom assemblies. This was done not for the heck of it nor a dress up nor a corrosion blocker but most likely water leaking thru bandaid..

. The black sealant around the transom assemblies is a cob jobbers attempt to stop water leaks thru the transom inreturn 9 times out of 10 is usually a soft and or rotted transom or the transom seal lost its seal inwhich ends up rotting the transom in due time..

Stock installs OEM use no sealant period, Everytime in the hundreds I have seen this sort of bandaid is from the boat owner or past boat owner trying to stop the water coming thru. And the reason why it leaks cause the transom is soft or rotted. .

It sucks to have to come out and say it but your likely correct. I sincerely hope not for the OT. Not entirely accurate however 5 minutes with a ball peen hammer will tell the tale. On my old project boat I found out late into the project as I was focused on the deck mods and engines and nearly prepping for paint. Went to install a set of k planes and oops. Port side was fine however stbd was not good. When the drill went through the outer shell and into the inner with literally nothing in between. Others had some of the usual rotted particle look to it when drilling. Was really to bad. Was an older boat and sat on trailer majority of the time with under 380 hours. Bought it from the original owner who lived nearby. He had no idea but resulted in big lesson learned.

Just tap tap around entire trans. Sound shouldn't change much at all. I'd start around lower inner transom assm and work your way up and around. It's very noticeable and disappointing. You can even do a quick check with knocking just like knocking at the neighbors door.

Moisture meter is nice to have and pretty cheap and accurate.
